Get the 2020 Headache Out of Your System

by | Dec 2, 2020

It’s almost the end of a very dysregulating year….

Congratulations, you’ve made it and the finish line is in sight!

The gift I have for you this December is a simple, four step process to regulating your nervous system. I’ve come to believe that this process is pretty much the right answer for any situation, always, with few exceptions.

Olympic athletes spend years training the technique of relaxing their body in stressful situations.

Combat soldiers go through rigorous training to master the skill of relaxing their body in tense times.

If it’s good enough for them in their stressful environments, it will certainly work for you as you bring 2020 to a close.

Here’s how to regulate your Nervous System, step by step:

Z

FB2 = Find your Breath and Body

When you bring your attention to the presence of your breath and/or body, it orients your thinking brain to cues of safety.
Z

Seat and Feet for 12 seconds

Focus your attention for 6 seconds on your seat as it rests on the surface supporting you. Next give six seconds of exquisite attention on your feet and where they connect to the ground.
Z

Sigh three times

Take a full breath in, then intentionally sigh on your exhale. Let all the air leave your body before taking the next inhale.
Z

Awareness

Notice how your shoulders relax towards the earth.
You’ve just regulated your Nervous System.

Now, do this every day, as often as you remember. If you have a history of trauma, it’s recommended by expert traumatologists that you intentionally relax your body 200 times/day!

What’s the right answer to do, always?

Relax Your Body.

It’s that “simple”.

Here’s to a good slide into the final run of the year.
